Bale stars as Real thrash Deportivo

Gareth Bale scored twice as Real won a home league game for the first time since early December with a 7-1 demolition of Deportivo La Coruna at the Bernabeu.

The Welsh star netted twice, one a beautiful curled effort and the other a header, and received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Bernabeu for his efforts. His goals came in the 42nd and 58th minutes of the game.

Bale played 82 minutes of the game before being replaced by Lucas Vazquez.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo also scored twice in this game, a rare achievement for him in a season where he has struggled in front of goal.

Real beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-0, but have to settle for second

Real Madrid beat Deportivo 2-0 with Gareth Bale in the starting XI for Zinedine Zidane’s side, but had to settle for second as Barcelona got the result they wanted against Granada thanks to Luis Suarez’s hat trick. Barca therefore defended their title successfully, but only finished a single point ahead of Real.
