Bale scores opening goal as Real Madrid brush aside Leganes

Gareth Bale scored the opening goal of the game as Real registered their third straight league win of the new campaign against strugglers Leganes. The visitors had played both Basque clubs coming into this game, and had lost to Athletic and draw against Sociedad.

Bale set the ball rolling with his 17th minute effort. Leganes equalised seven minutes later through Carrillo’s penalty, but a brace after the interval from Karim Benzema and a penalty midway through the second half from Sergio Ramos sealed a 4-1 victory for Real.

Bale played 85 minutes of this game before being subbed off for Lucas.

Real’s next game, in two weeks’ time after the international break, will see them travel to San Mames to take on Athletic.

Bale’s goal means he has now scored in 7 straight La Liga games.
